A personal success...

I just got done with a two week project that half way through, I was not sure I would finish. I installed a sprinkler system in my yard. I dug all the trenches by hand. Needless to say, I am tan now and feel pretty damn good. It was, by far, the hardest home project I have ever done. But it was fun. I constantly have people asking me/telling me things like, "gosh, why didn't you hire someone to do it", and "why didn't you rent a trencher". To that I say, I could have afforded both. Money was not a motivator and really never has been. I wanted the personal satisfaction of knowing that I could do something I had never done before. If you don't think a sprinkler system is that big of a deal, you ain't never lived through a Texas summer.

Two things I would change about Denver...

My company sent me to our office in Denver for a week to help out with sales and marketing issues. I figured what the hell...Denver has nice weather and I had never been there. They booked my hotel downtown on 16th Street and off I went. I head back to Houston today. Denver is a nice city. Please don't misunderstand this post. As far as oil and gas industry, the city is great. All the operators are lumped into two streets all within walking distance. The public transportation downtown is great and free. The shops along 16th street are neat. The view from the high rises is awesome. But there are two freaking horrendous things I would change about Denver.

1. The homeless/panhandlers. These people are ruthless and annoying. It is illegal to beg on the 16th street mall (so I was told). But cops sit and watch these vagrants hit people up for money. I just don't get it. I am sure, somewhere in Denver, there are some mis-placed California residents threatening to protest if these bums are dealt with. I say haul the California sissies back to California and clean Denver up.

2. The road system. There are no frontage roads off of the Denver highways. You may see a place you want to eat from the highway. But you damn sure better know what side road it is on. Otherwise you will be driving around, aimlessly I might add, trying to find the place.

All in all, it was a good trip. Was slightly out of breath the first few days I was there but it was dry (no massive humidity, like Houston) and beautiful.

Disney...

Just got back from a weeks stay at Disney World in Orlando. It was nice. It was compliments of my in-laws. The trip was nice. We stayed at Pop Century on Disney property. The resort was cool and very kid-friendly. The food was awesome. We has a dining plan and ate at as many park restaurants as we could. All said, the trip was nice. But there is just something special about being able to come home. Do things on your terms. When you want to. There is a lot to be said about living 700 miles away from your in-laws.

My morning ritual

I get up around 6:20 every morning. I start by closing the bedroom door then I go into our bathroom and close the door before I turn on the light. I take a shower and proceed to get dressed. Never do I leave the bathroom to get ready. Somehow, my freaking kids hear me and get up every morning. Usually I will be in the shower and I will see the bathroom door open and in will treck the tyo (two year old) with his blankie and rabbit and want to pee in our bathroom. He has a bathroom right next to his room but instead he comes clear across the house to use ours. Oh and by they way, he wears a pull up to bed that he pisses in all night long. While I bitch, it is nice to see them for a few minutes in the morning before I head to the office. Below is a picture of baby spike this morning. Not sure what happen to his hair, but I am sure a lot of baby sweat was involved.

Baseball....

Man the freaking Sox are dominating....I lived in Illinois for 21 good years and almost forgot we had two ball teams. You always heard about the Cubs but rarely the Sox. Just total, ugly, domination. Astros better stop worrying about the roof and get in the game...
